hi

my name is dave from the uk ,this is my first post so sorry for jumping straight in for advice ..

i have been given an iphone 3gs after my friend got his new 5 ,it is locked to o2 network and i want to use it on the orange network .

my question is methods of unlocking it ? i dont want to jailbreak it but i have read on google that you have to do that to unlock it ? .

if i did jail break it and unlock it and then reset the phone and get rid of the jail break will the unlock disappear as well or will it stay unlocked but with out the jailbreak ?? hope thats clear enough ,any help will be great thanks.

dave ..

Yes, when you jailbreak it to unlock it, it will only be unlocked when the phone is jail broken. Also you would be upgrading the baseband to iPad baseband. With doing this you could loose GPS functionality and updating the iPhone to newer firmware would be a pain in the butt. I recommend getting a factory unlock.
