Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere I did try the search but it didn’t bring any posts up…….has anybody successfully managed to get their iPhone 13/pro/max to unlock while wearing a face mask and an Apple Watch? I have 13 pro and Apple Watch 7 I read there was a problem but it was fixed in an update, both Watch and phone are fully up to date, settings on my iPhone are set to open while wearing my watch with a passcode set I’m guessing I’m missing something I just don’t figure what it is ?

Settings > Face ID Passcode > Unlock with Apple Watch. Make sure that unlock with Apple Watch is toggled on. If you are sure that that is toggled on, unlock your phone with your passcode and make sure your watch is unlocked as well. If that doesn’t work, try re-pairing.

So it appears you have to have Wi-Fi on the Apple Watch switched on ? I had mine switched off to save battery along with a lot of other things I’ve switched of as I’m finding the Apple Watch 7 to have the worse battery of all the apple watches I’ve owed anyway the main thing is I can now open my phone without the continual inputting of my passcode. Thanks for the help guys much appreciated ?

I had this exact same problem until I turned it on in settings on the iPhone. Weird it’s buried there.

I have this issue and it keeps coming back. At the weekend it happened and finally toggling the setting off and back on again in the phone settings (not watch settings) seemed to fix it. Today however it is not working again..

Mine used to work with my iPhone 12 Pro / AW5, but since upgrading to iOS 15, it hasn't (same since I got the iPhone 13 Pro). I updated the iOS as soon as the fix was released (I think it was 15.0.1), but it's never been able to work since then.

I haven't tried unpairing / repairing the watch, as it's annoying to have to set it up again, and the unlock-with-mask is a fringe case that I (fortunately) don't experience much at all in my daily life.

All I did to prompt my phone to open was…….
*put a mask on
*unlock my watch (as in tap on the screen so it’s fully on)
*held my iPhone in front of my face of which it still refused to unlock but kept the phone in front of my face and input the passcode, at this point my watch vibrates as my phone unlocked and since then has always unlocked flawlessly
