I know you can't do this, but I am hoping that someone from Apple sees my suggestion. How about software that recognizes the designated WiFi's such as home and work that you added, and that when you enter and exit those WiFi areas your iPhone locks and unlocks. Having a party at the house or you are skeptic someone may get into your iPhone, there will also be a manual shut down of the software along with security so that no one can turn it back on.

Your best bet of Apple seeing your request is to send them feedback directly.

I don't think that's a good idea. I'm at work, and I accidently left my phone on my desk, and someone grabs it and accesses data thy should not. I'm at starbucks, every day and I go to the bathroom, and some stranger steals the phone and my personal details are there for all to see.

Just because you can have a manual way to lock it, doesn't negate the security risk and vulnerability of not having your phone locked because it recognizes a wifi you spend time on

If it allowed you to selectively choose which wifi network this type of feature worked with, it would solve this 'problem' use case.

I don't think I understand what you're suggesting. When I walk into my house, would my phone wake up in my pocket and unlock? Or would I still have to manually turn it on, just not use face id or a pin code? Either way, that's a feature I wouldn't want.

The phone wouldnt have to actually unlock. Just allow the use of Siri/Homekit security restricted requests, like unlocking the door without FaceID/Passcode being required.

I also would not want the phone to just be always unlocked just because im home. Unlocking via FaceID takes less than a second and youre generally already looking at the phone when you want to use it.

I would need to know the pros and cons to make an informed decision. I can think of plenty of cons, but not a single pro. What is the benefit of having an unlocked iPhone laying around at home? Any interaction with it will necessitate picking it up, and FaceID will unlock it anyway.

I see that you're an Apple Watch user... so I presume the premise here is to mirror the vaguely similar feature from the Apple Watch, which allows automatic unlock of the Watch when it is within Bluetooth range of the iPhone; is that correct? Because the use case is different enough that there's a great deal more inherent risk to such a feature on an iPhone than there is on the Apple Watch; just the fact that the Apple Watch is usually attached to the owner changes the risk profile dramatically, as that is not typically true of an iPhone.

I definitely wouldn't use your proposed feature, personally.
