Should my iPhone X (updated to 11.2.1) with 'Require Attention for Face ID' and 'Attention Awareness Features' both turned on, allow me to unlock it with an eye closed?

It's consistently replicable.

Speaking to Apple today they also say it's meant to work like this.

I thought I had read somewhere that an eye closed would help prevent a thief unlocking your phone when you get mugged.

p.s. / FWIW: Attention Awareness Features are not involved in unlocking the phone.

It is Facial recognition and NOT rental recognition. If so how would it work with dark sunglasses on?
