I got Mac OS X Leopard over a week ago, and I unluckily got the Blue Screen of Death. This was resolved by removing the ShapeShifter files in single user mode, but I feel that Leopard isn't as fast as it's supposed to be. I planned to back up my files as soon as I could get an external hard drive and do a clean install again. Unfortunately, I'm a bit busy these days and never got the chance to get one.
Last night, when I tried to install a Cantonese input method in Leopard, something went wrong. When I enter OS X, I meet the spinning ball of death and the menu bar seems to have problem loading. The system then logs out and logs in again, only to repeat the same process.
So, I booted into my Windows Boot Camp partition and installed MacDrive, which lets me access the files in my Mac partition. I tried to copy my Mac files onto a DVD, but Windows is unable to copy them. MacDrive has a bundled disc burner, but it's way too slow. Copying my Mac files into Windows first is even slower.
I know I should back up my files all the time, and this is a big lesson for me. But now I would really like some help and advice. I'm thinking of a few solutions:
I wonder which is the best solution? Either way, I'll be doing a clean install afterwards and get an external backup drive fast.
Any useful advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

- get another disc burner like Nero to backup my files on DVD
- boot into OS X's safe mode to retrieve my files
- do an Archive and Install with the Leopard Install DVD
- removing the Cantonese input method plugin in singer user mode like I did with the ShapeShifter files before
