Unread messages on watch!!!!

Please tell me there’s a fix for this? I don’t wear my watch all the time, it’ll be in charger. When I go to put it on, it says 99+ on messages. I can not clear them unless I open every one. HOW can I keep the watch in sync?? So frustrating

Drag down notifications > push on the screen > tap on clear all notifications.
