iPhone 13 mini Unreliable wifi

Folks - when on wifi, does iphone still maintain the cellular data connection? I have 1-2 critical apps on my phone that I'm dependent on for push alerts and can't miss them. Having said that, if my wifi stays up, will the phone automatically know it's down and allow LTE data
