I searched, but couldn't find anything that was answering my question.

I have a 1st gen Apple TV that will only boot into an Apple logo with a somewhat fuzzy image background. It will not allow me to restart to run diagnostic. It will only restart into the same screen.

Is there a way to connect it with my Mac and restore through iTunes? Or does it sound like this thing is fried? The HDD seems fine. But like I said I'm stuck at the same screen so I can't run diagnostics or do a restore.

Any help would be great!

Will it restart if you hold menu and minus on the remote for 10 seconds? There's no way to restore it via iTunes, only through the restore menu on the Apple TV itself.

It will restart, but will only go to the same screen with the logo and the sorta broken image fuzzy background.

Is the LED blinking yellow/orange when holding down those buttons? Is the TV set to a compatible resolution?

There are various resolutions that the Apple TV 1 can output to over HDMI, is the TV set to a compatible mode? The hard drive is likely dead or corrupt.
