Unresponsive login screen in Snow Leopard

Good Evening.

Anyone know how to fix the issue where the login screen is unresponsive to both keyboard and mouse. Cannot click on user accounts.
Tried rebooting and resetting smc and pram..no good.
Also tried going into single user mode and entering sbin/fsck -fy - no good
