Unstable Internet Connection

I installed Windows XP Pro with SP3 slipstreamed. After a few weeks of going on Windows, I found that the internet connection is not as good as that on Mac OSX. Also, my internet just disconnects randomly every few hours or so. This does not happen to my Leopard or any other computer at my house (includes Vista and XP). It annoys me as I play online games, so being constantly disconnected without knowing when it will happen is bad for me. Is this normal, or is there any way to fix it?
