Sorry if I'm posting in the wrong spot, I just thought that since this was a Itunes question, it'd be best here.

I just got a new 27" and I've been moving everything over. but my iphone is synced w/ my old library that I moved over but I wanted to start fresh w/ a new account once everything was moved (it's easier than wading through all of the junk on the old one)

But Itunes is saying I can't sync w/ the new library unless I dump everything on my phone and start over. Is there a way to unsync w/ the 1st library and sync w/ the new one w/out losing all of my music that's already on the phone?

Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it.

^^ No no no...

Copy the folder from /user/library/iTunes to your new computer. This will copy your previous backups and it will be recognized as the same phone.

I've done this before and it saved me from starting from scratch.

awesome, thanks, i'll give it a try when i get home.

thanks again

Make sure your iTunes library is the same. So copy /user/music/ to your new computer /user/music.

ok, so copy everything in user/music folder to the new computer? do I delete the user/music folder that is in the new computer or leave it there too?

Thanks again

Just overwrite (replace) if you get prompted.

The two folders you need:

/user/library/iTunes
/user/music

It's possible you need another folder called /user/Library/MobileSync... I can let you know shortly when I get home. Can't check that on XP... lol

Make sure that iTunes is closed during this process.

awesome thanks for the help, i'll try it with all three folders, hopefully it'll work. thanks again

nope, i moved the original files to another folder but iTunes still isn't seeing the old folders.

looks like I'm just going to have to suck it up and erase it and start over. not the worst thing in the world, just a lot of time

Thanks for your help, I really appreciated it.
