First off, just wanted to post that my other thread (regarding Cydia updates) no longer needs an answer, since I recently restored my iPhone.

That said, I'm having one unusual issue, and one rather troublesome issue after restoring my iPhone. While Jailbroken, I used "Fake Carrier" to change my the Carrier name (to an image of an Apple). After the restore, that Apple remained.

Also, I'm no longer getting Push Notifications although all settings are set to receive them.

I'm on an iPhone 4 now running 4.0.2. I restored from a backup.

Can anyone help out here? Thanks.

Thats why.
If you setup as new and didnt restore from your JB backup you wouldnt have the custom carrier or any bugs carried over to your new install.

Ah, I see. So restoring as a new iPhone would fix the Push Notification issue also?

Sorry for the noob-ness. I've been jailbreaking for 3 years now and I've never run into a problem. Had one today, along with serious battery drainage, so it prompted the restore.

Also, if I restore as a new iPhone...is there any possible way to recover old text conversations, transfer photos from my Camera roll back over, etc?

Thanks for all the help!

Texts no.
Camera roll you can copy the pics out of your iphone before you restore and then sync them back thru itunes.

Ah, that's unfortunate. Oh well, guess it was my fault to begin with. No worries!

I think that about solves this thread, unless anyone could suggest some method to miraculously recover those texts. If not, it's all good.

Thanks

Only if you're JB you can try SSH them back into the system.
But since you're on 4.0.2 and there's no JB for it there's no other way.
With restore from backup on itunes you either get it all or nothing.
You cant just restore texts for example and nothing else.

Gotcha. I pretty much understand. Eh, no worries. Deleting the 50,000+ texts I have saved in the Messages app might do me some good after all haha
