I was transferring my movies from my macmini using my new seagate hard drive. When i copy the movie to the macbookpro it copys and when i try to play it its just a white screen with mutated sound.. this is really frustrating as i cannot watch my movies on the go. please help
 
Same problem...

I had the exact same thing happen when I tried to copy a .avi video from my iBook to an iMac. It's a DIVX file, and somewhere in the past three years I must have installed a DIVX playback component on my iBook that doesn't exist on the new iMac. It probably came with Toast. I've been told that Perian will install all the necessary components in QuickTime to fix it right up -- haven't tried it yet, but I will tomorrow.

have you downloaded any additional codecs on one machine and forgot about them, their are codecs for virtually every wierd vid out there, divx 3vx etc
