I live in an EDGE only area (Seneca Falls, NY). Most of the time, the EDGE connection is so slow it essentially doesn't work. I'm talking 7 Kbits/second down and 1 up with 5,000ms latency! That translates to about 2 minutes to load Google, and five minutes for normal pages.
Then sometimes it's normal (150 Kbits/sec down, 500 ms latency). Normal EDGE feels like 3G compared to when it's doing the 7 Kbit/sec and high latency thing.
The speed is usually normal in nearby towns, even if the area is still edge-only. Ideas? Is there anything I can do? Similar experiences? I have full bars most of the time.
