Yesterday, I noticed an unknown user appear in the "Shared" section of the Finder - see attachment.

Nothing is checked in the Sharing section of System Preferences so how could this happen.

This is mildly worrying, especially as I don't recognise the user.

Any ideas ? Thanks

Steve

You're seeing them because they're sharing. It's not you being exposed here. And that's not a user, that's another machine. I generally see several other PC's & Macs in my weekly hotel stays. It's amazing how many people just broadcast their presence.

Thanks.

This makes sense

I suppose if I had have thought laterally rather than panicking I could have worked this out.

Next time it happens I might be tempted to take a peek.
