If we believe the rumors, then Apple will be announcing new MacBook Pros on the 27th and will be announcing new displays either on the 27th or at a later date.

How confident should we be that the new MacBook Pros will be compatible with the new displays? I'm especially concerned because if the new displays aren't announced until later in the year (or in 2017) and if I purchase one of the new MacBook Pros upon release (which I'm inclined to do), then I might buy a laptop that won't be compatible with whatever display comes out.

Part of me thinks that Apple wouldn't make a major upgrade to the MacBook Pro line and not make it compatible with the new displays. But part of me has been so disappointed in Apple over the past few years that I wouldn't be surprised if they did.

If the display is released anytime in the near future - say during 2017 - you can be pretty sure it will be compatible.
There's nothing superior to Thunderbolt 3 on the horizon.
