ifoAppleStore reports that Apple is planning to open a new retail store in the Cornwall Centre shopping mall in Regina, Saskatchewan. The location is a notable one for being the first in the vast province in the heart of Canada, with no other Apple retail stores located within a 300-mile radius.

Cornwall Centre is located in city center and has 90 retailers in an enclosed mall. City planning documents mention the new store, but the exact location within the mall isn’t known. Based on construction schedules, the store could open by November 2012.
Regina, the provincial capital with a population of roughly 200,000, is the second-largest city and part of the second-largest metropolitan area in Saskatchewan, just behind Saskatoon.

Update: As noted in our forums and confirmed by The Regina Leader-Post (via iPhoneinCanada.ca), the forthcoming store is actually a reseller and not an official Apple retail store.
Regina's Cornwall Centre is getting a store selling Apple products — though, contrary to rumours that circulated Tuesday morning on the web — it won't be an Apple store.

Krista Bebeau, the downtown mall's marketing manager, said it will an outlet of a firm called iWorld Connect — the website of which (http://iworldconnect.com/) confirms the company is opening a store in Regina.

Trs you beat me to the punch lol

The province only has 1 million people, who cares which city is the capital? Jeez, yokels.

Also, Regina sucks and the Apple store should be in the Midtown, not the Cornwall. Regina doesn't even have a proper starbucks, WTF will they do with an Apple Store?

Oh no not a starbucks I guess Regina lacking all those hippsters driving hybrid cars . Regina and Saskatoon are 2 of the fastest growing cities in Canada right now not sure about Saskatoon numbers but regina economy grew by 6.1 % and there tons of major delveopment going down there so I think apple see that this is place where people have money to spend and is a good place to open a store . If Regina getting a store if this article is even true it won't be do long till Saskatoon getting one. knowing apple they are just waiting for a prime location to open up from what I heard they are very picky where they place store in . But man you sure hate Regina guess someone from there must of pooped in your corn flakes .

Saskatoon has had a great mac shop for a long time with Neural Net Interactive (In Market Mall, always wondered why they weren't in Midtown). I don't know much about Regina Apple dealers. I'm 2 hours away from Saskatoon and 5 from Regina so I'm too far away for it to make much difference to me.

Nearest 700 miles? (Also, Canada we use kilometres.) Big whoop, there's not one in the Atlantic provinces at all, the nearest is Montreal, some 2000 km away from here in St. John's.

I'm not making the connection with the second...
rhymes with 'poon'.

I am going to make a prediction and guess that this will be the slowest store in the entire Apple chain.

I am glad the oil industry is finally resulting in some growth for the area. I am not sure how much of that growth is ending up in the pockets of people that live and work there. Certainly it can't help.

It's been quite a few years since I've been to either Regina or Saskatoon, but the last time I remember wondering how anyone lives there without opening a vein. The local 'bar scene' seemed to be 5 guys in stetsons dancing with their first cousins.

Yes lets all go to midtown where the bums and hobos rule at every entrance. The people of Saskatoon have a wonderful game they play every time they attempt to go to Midtown, What's in that urine smell and who's going to shank me first? Dirty dirty place Saskatoon is...

And you were one of those 5 guys... and it was your sister. Saskatchewan is the only jurisdiction in North America that isn't running a deficit and seems to be the only place where there are more high paying jobs than people. Yup, we are a bunch of yokels. Where is your Lexus? Mine is with my kid while I drive my Ferrari (not on highway 22 into Earl Grey).

The store the store that is opening up in Regina is NOT an "Apple Store" or run by Apple. It is a third-party "Apple Specialist" store, like the ones you see in airports.

And you know this how?

["Saskatoon"]

RhymeZone only brought up "pantaloon." While the word rhyming with Regina is not exactly R-rated, whatever rhymes with "Saskatoon," must be, or it would be more readily found.

The word itself is "poon". Apparently slang for female genitalia. But this must be pretty localized as I've never heard anyone around here use it. I had vaguely heard of it and I had to look it up to be sure.

There's Apple stores in Calgary and Winnipeg. Winnipeg is 350 miles away.

If I was trying to hook up with my sister, then yes, Saskatchewan would be the place ;)

As I said, it's been many years. Maybe the oil money has brought some diversity to the region. The gene pool certainly needed it.

Murder Capital of Canada

I visited Regina once for work. The cabbie from the airport, in small talk fashion, told me that Regina was the murder capital of Canada.

It's all but certain now that an Apple Store will be open in Halifax, Nova Scotia before the end of the Summer.

Major structural additions to the Halifax Shopping Centre finished in late March, and interior renovations are well underway. Some trademark Apple-style exterior glass is now being installed in a brand new upper level retail space next to Sears (formerly open air), and architect's drawings have been leaked revealing the general store layout.

Job postings for every level of the Apple retail hierarchy, from Store Manager to Genius to Inventory, have been online at Apple Canada's website for about a month now, but neither Apple nor the Halifax Shopping Centre have officially confirmed anything.

Edit:
It is now official. Check out the "New Stores, New Opportunities" box on the right side of this page. Halifax, Nova Scotia is now officially listed.
