i have just downloaded iWork 08 trial..
and they asked me to get the lastest os x update..10.4.10 ..
i know about the kernal panics and the wifi problems used to be with this update..
but did apple solve anything about it?
or does it still have the problems?

thanks for any help or sharing your experience with the update!

Mine's fine. MBP 17" 2.33

No problems at with kernal panics or wireless, admittedly that's only streaming iTunes. But yeah, everything's running fine.

I really think all the problems were quite isolated I never had a problem with it and I have it running on several systems. There was never any sort of consensus of it being "unsafe" - all the Macs here at Bradley also have it and seem to work fine - thats another couple hundred or so right there.

im glade to hear that the problems werent with everyone
i have no backup drive and would be a huge problem if something goes wrong and im forced to reinstall the os like it happened with many people..

Well if you're that scared for some reason then don't do it.

.10 caused my external HD to stop mounting or be recognized by my computer. Had to follow some hack to fix it.

I did run into kernel panics with the wireless on a MacBook under 10.4.10, but a subsequent Airport Extreme update seemed to cure that problem for me.

They haven't fixed it.

I have a brand new Macbook which shipped with 10.4.10 already installed which has the Airport bug.

I was also timid about 10.4.10 but finally updated a few days ago, and haven;t seen any problems yet. Of course I always make or update a clone disk just in case anything happens, but thankfully it didn't. Also be sure to unplug any peripherals except for keyboard and mouse before an update. just to be safe. Some updates in the past have fried external hard drives, even though they were turned off at the time.

No problems whatsoever on my two main machines (listed in signature). I had the audio issue when 10.4.10 first came out, but it's been resolved.
