Update 14 pro to 26 before migrating to new iPhone 17?

Hello. I currently have an iPhone 14 Pro running the newest iOS 18. I’ll be getting the 17 pro in the mail on the 19th. Before I do the phone to phone migration from the 14 to the 17, do I need to update my iPhone 14 pro to iOS 26 for the migration to work? Thank you!!
