iPod Update (almost) All Music

Is it possible to have iTunes update all my music on my iPod Mini automatically, except for audio in the Audiobooks and Books and Spoken genres without making a smart playlist?

yup, just go into ipod settings and have it automatically update your music.

Untick your audiobooks and spoken word tracks and then select Only Update Checked Songs in the iPod preferences (in iTunes).

uncheck the boxes.

the checked boxes will sync with your iPod, and the unchecked won't.

Oh, and I don't think the iPod skips syncing unchecked songs be default. Meh, it's easy to work out form the preferences.

I have got a new iPod video. this is my first ipod and i have some basic questions. please be gentle with me.

How do I make music folders in my ipod?? all my music is in the form of a long list. i want to store it in the form of folders by artists and have been unable to do so.

please help...

That's not how iPods work. To look at your music by artists, just go to Music > Artist.
