iOS update free app to a paid app?

Hi,
is it possible to update an excisting free app on the appstore to be a paid app? Or do I have to define a new app ID in order to make an app paid? I do not want the free app to excist anymore, ie I would like to overwrite it. Is it possible?

If the app contains ads such as AdMob, which I assume would be removed, you'll have to resubmit a new binary as an update and select your pricing.
