Does the firmware update erase your drive? I just reinstalled SL, and set all my settings. IT took awhile, and i can redo it if i do lose data, but would rather not. I dont have any backup methods though. Can I attempt the FW update without backing up?

Took the plunged, and updated. Things went swimmingly, no data loss. :).

Feels faster than ever. :D

Firmware has nothing to do with data on the drive...there is a chip on the logic board that gets it's software updated thats all.

sure, except when you bork the firmware and the thing wont boot anymore. there have been plenty of people this happened to who tried to update under win7x64
