I have been trying for a few days to Update my Jailbroken(redsn0w) iPhone 4(Verizon) 4.2.8 to a higher Jailbroken iOS no matter which iTunes version I try, how I edit my host file, using sn0wBreeze(doesn't work because of host issues), using redsn0w, or anything else I try wont work. I was considering restoring my iOS back to OEM, but I'm unsure if I will be able to upgrade the iOS and jailbreak it again, because I ran into this issue when I initially tried to jailbreak it. Anyone have any suggestions

You'll need valid shsh's to upgrade to 6.x
If you don't have those your are SOL.

4.2.8???? About 3 years late in the upgrade race....

Only option is iOS 7 at the moment, but no JB out, that will take a bit of time, most probably nov/dec.

Thank you for the info so here the big question I guess should I upgrade to 7 and then just wait for a jailbreak or stay on 4.2.8 and wait till the jailbreak to come out. I got my cousins old iPhone for free and that's the version she had on it so I rolled with it

Thank you for all of your help TriJetHero. I will wait for the JB 7 to come out before upgrading

Out of curiosity is there a way to upgrade to iOS 7 while keeping the baseband?
