Update on Clone or Active Drive

I have the SL upgrade disk and I am wondering if I should upgrade my MBP (5,1) or should I clone it and upgrade it? All that I really do on it is CS4, web, mail, iLife and iWork. I have glanced through the forums and haven't seen much of anything that sets my mind at ease on upgrading the internal drive.
