I'm currently running OS 15.6 on my MacBook Pro. I'd like to update to the latest OS version before Tahoe and stay there awhile until Tahoe gets more sorted out.

The only option for updating my MBP is offering is 15.6.1 I thought it should be offering 15.7 or 15.7.1

Why can't I go from 15.6 to a version of 15.7 ?

Looked again today for my update options. Things have changed since yesterday. Now I am offered either Tahoe or 15.7.1

This looked hopeful. Went ahead and selected 15.7.1

Took about 20 minutes to do the update. After it was completed my MBP is now running 15.7.1 - Looking good

BUT Safari 26.0.1 was installed with the update. So I apparently now have a Tahoe browser in my Sequoia OS.

And the Safari browser is considerably messed up. In addition to the different appearance, most all of my bookmarks are either missing or re-arranged. Will take awhile to sort things out.

Net is that I have the OS that I want for a couple months so that I can take my time about moving to Tahoe.

Unfortunately, I have a mess to clean up with Safari. Not very happy with that.

I guess I could have mentioned about clicking first on the little circled icon next to the "upgrade now" button in Settings that gives a list of what all will be upgraded:

Before I upgraded to 15.7.1 all the boxes were already checked when I looked at the list, so I unchecked Safari and the Command Line Tools (macOS Tahoe 26.0.1 wasn't shown like it is now).

I don't use Safari anyway but hopefully you (and I suspect, many others as well) can sort out what's going on with it.

Thanks. I didn't click on the little "iinfo" circle and missed out on the Safari options. Just assumed that moving to the latest Sequoia OS would bring the latest Sequoia version of Safari along with it.

So will just live with it for a few months before making the decision to move to Tahoe OS.
