update problems with freeciv

With the last update I'm having a problem playing freeciv. First problem is that when playing in windowed mode it does something funny to the background (black and white stationary 'snow'). Second problem is that I can't move (with the arrow keys or with 'g' click). Anyone else experiencing this? Any fixes?

Only way I can exit the program is a force shutdown.
