Hey guys I'm running the 3.0 beta on my iphone 3g and I have a problem updating...I don't know how. Yeah this is one of my dumber moments but I'm on beta 5 and clicking update in itunes does nothing. What do I do cause I want the real 3.0 so I can finally jailbreak it again.

um... problem

Your other option is to download the 3.0 image and then use Shift-click Update (Windows) or Option-click Update (Mac) and point it to the 3.0 image.

Yes it does work as I upgraded from Beta 3, to 4, to 5, to GM.

I downloaded it but just got a folder and iTunes won't open anything thats in it.

Wow I read that and thought "is he honestly suggesting that I deleted it". Then I decided to look and it was there. I know I didn't delete it so wtf is up with that?

Same thing just a folder with nothing iTunes will open. BTW I didn't see a need to specify being as this is a mac forum but I am using a mac.

My firmware just expired so now I don't have a phone does anyone know what I can do because iTunes won't give me the new firmware.

What if you just right-click on the file link and do a file "Download As"? Can you save it into the Documents folder?

Yes and like I have said a few times I get a folder with nothing in it that itunes will use to restore.

Try a different browser. One that won't try to automatically open files like Safari tends to do.

Or try turning off 'Open "safe" files after downloading' in Safari Preferences and see if that fixes it.
