Update to 3.1 from a different computer?

So my girlfriend really wants to update so she can mms. Trouble is her pc is a pos, and it crashes and errors out when she connects her phone to it. So I'm thinking I can just take my MBP over there and do it on my computer. Are there any issues with this? Is it going to sync all of my contacts and such? If so is there any other way to do it?

you would have to have the 3.1 update linked to her account, then update and and then hook up to her computer to sync.

You do not need to have the phone sync. Just plug it in and hit update. Done it with 3 phones.

I don't think you need any syncing. you simply have to get the 3.1 update linked to her account. Nothing else. Hope your girlfriend will get the solution and will be happy with you...

Worked fine for me.

I couldn't wait to get the update lol so I just signed into iTunes on an work iMac and the 3.1 download started.

Forgive me for being an idiot here. But this means that you can log into itunes from any computer and get the update? You don't lose any info or music from your phone?
