I was using a Samsung T7 4TB SSD for my Time Machine. Unfortunately, this SSD USB-C plug did not work with the Thunderbolt cable I had plugged into it so loose it would not stay plugged in I tried 3 other TB cables, all Ankers, and they all had the same problem. This drive is not a Thunderbolt drive but I formatted it in APSF. I had to tape the plug to keep it in place. I tried a regular USB-C cable which fit tight like it should. I decided to move this drive over to my Mini-PC. I purchased a 2TB Thunderbolt SSD, a Fantom Drives Extreme 2TB 2800MB/s, to replace the Samsung. The Thunderbolt cable fits as it should. With a proper Thunderbolt drive, I am also getting proper notices of updates. It is updated once a day, not once an hour as I mistakenly set up on the earlier drive. I gave up on NAS drives, the job my Mini PC does a different job than my Mac Studio, Radio control.
