Hi all, long time lurker, first time poster :)

Went in to buy a new 15 inch for one of our employees this morning and was unaware of the spec bump. When we went to purchase, she asked if we wanted the new updated one or we could get a deal on the previous model.

The deal was only $100 off so we opted for the new 2.2 ghz $1799 model.

Is it just me or is that one the new sweet spot in the macbook pro line.

Also BTW: it doesn't appear that moving the newest one's back to 10.6 is an option at all. It won't even boot from the pro dvd that we bought two months ago.

Having fun unboxing our new toy :)

You have to have the appropriate version of OS X that shipped with that machine - I read earlier that it was 10.6.6 with the early 2011 MBPs, and Apple's 10.6 DVDs only went to 10.6.3. Still, hope you enjoy the new machine. :)

I called up one of the local stores and they told me that they didn't have them in yet and would be getting them in in the next few days. There are at least four Apple stores where I live so I'm gonna check with the rest of them too.

Actually, the refresh still includes Bluetooth 2.1. I imagine we'll have to wait for Ivy Bridge to get 4.0 in the MBP line.

I would call around. I told a friend of mine who was considering upgrading his 2007 mbp. The first two stores he called didn't have them, but the 3rd one did (chicago area)

and yes the bluetooth is still 2.1
