updated software to ios 6 on 3gs and now it crashes

I updated to IOS 6 on my 3gs today and now it wont even turn on. When I plug it in to charge, it keeps showing me that the battery is too low and then after about 2 minutes the apple logo comes up and all of a sudden it shows lines on the phone and turns off (I am guessing it keeps crashing at start up). Ive tried to plug it into my mac so that I could restore my original software, but it wont show up on itunes either. Everytime I unplug it, it just shows me a battery sign and shows me a plug sign below it. Has this happened to anyone? Suggestions on how to fix this?

Not me. I just updated my sons 3GS and while it moved a lot slower I haven't any issues with it crashing. But then again he hasn't been home to use it.

You might have to put it in dfu mode so you can restore it.
