Don't know if this is an issue or not? Previously when using High Sierra, and having my WD My Passport connected as an external HDD, after logging in there would be a popup window requesting authorization to "unlock" the external. This no longer occurs now that I have updated my MBA to Catalina 10.15.2. The icon for the WD My Passport just appears on the home screen with no request re "unlock" !!

Is this a concern or simply a feature of the updated macOS ??

Any and all input/direction appreciated.

MBA (early 2015)
Safari
Catalina 10.15.2

It was encrypted with Filevault or proprietary WD encryption scheme?

If it was with Filevault, just open the Keychain and search for the name of the drive.
If there is a password entry, you can remove it so it will ask for password next time you plug it

If it was WD encryption, maybe you should look on WD site to find the app compatible with Catalina
