ok windows says my ipod is a camera and i wanna jailbreak it (its 4g ios4.2.1) and im tryin to back it up on itunes but thats not picking up my ipod eather so is there any way i can back it up just in case some thing happens btw im using jailbreak me .com v3.0

which ipod gen is it? you need to have a up to date version of itunes and check your ipod cable. it might be acting up. restart your computer. check the usb ports. use different ones.

Windows is supposed to recognize it as a camera. But what about iTunes? Is iTunes recognizing it as your iPod??

As long as Windows is recognizing it, you should be fine and jailbreaking it should work.

i want to back it up but itunes wont reconize my ipod touch 4 gen an yes itunes is updated

Try putting your iPod into DFU mode then restoring it.

Reading this thread, you'll see that the OP does not want to restore his iPod or erase its contents.

Try restarting the iPod and computer, different USB ports, different dock cables, a completely different computer.

if your looking to jailbreak, shouold Jailbreakme.com work for your firmware? that would jailbreak it and you would need to back up or even connect. but if itunes is n ot finding your ipod, get that fixed.

Have you made sure iTunes is updated to the latest version? That sounds like the culprit.

You need a program to get stuff from your iPod to your computer (backing up only puts it into iTunes, not onto, say, your desktop).

Jailbreaking doesn't remove stuff from your iPod so you don't have to worry.

You would restore the iPod from the iTunes backup.
