I got an "update install notification" ( top right window with Install / Later options) Since I was busy, I took care of the note after about 15-20 minutes.

When I clicked on "Install" , nothing happened, no window poped-up, all I noticed was that the system became slightly sluggish for a few seconds. When I felt this slowdown I decided to restart...

When I go into: System Preferences > App Store > I have checked:

- Automatically Check for Updates
-Download newly available updates in the background

-Install system data files and security updates

Do you think that when I clicked on "install" an "install system data files and security updates" took place in the background and hence no prompt showed up?
Is there a chance that my restart could have taken place ahead of time?

and thus some files were being patched/updated? maybe they'll be updated next time an update is available? The system works and feel fine.

I tried running a software update again, and it stated that "no updates are available"

Thoughts? , thanks!
