Updates to Apps for iOS 4.2

I noticed this morning 4 updates to iPAD apps I have purchased in the App Store. In reading the release notes for them, they all seem to be updated for v4 of iOS. Should I wait to install them until I have the iOS4 update, will installing them on iOS3 make my iPAD unstable?

Probably a dumb question, but I'm an iPad newbie. I guess that means the release of iOS4 can't be far off

You can safely install them unless stated otherwise by the developer of the app.
