During setup the onboarding suggests device to device would be 10-15 minutes.

Surprise to me, I use a lot of the 256gb storage.

Well, it goes on to take 2.5 hours. The progress bar says about an hour for first 30 mins, then 55 mins, 41 mins for the rest of the time.

Progress bar continued to move toward completion but time estimates couldn’t be more wrong.

Be careful with this, because both devices were put in an unusable state while this was happening. It also seemed to drain the older device battery in a big way.

I think something like this happened last year also, but took even longer.

Hours after completing the data transfer the new device is glitching, stuck trying to do stuff w messages or share links via messages.

Again, I think it was like this last year too, and given how fast the battery is being run down right now, it must be doing some work initializing the device.

It’s odd how these areas are still so rough.

I’d recommend people do the setup as a last step before bedtime cause the phone clearly needs time well after the data transfer to sort its stuff out.
