Updating 3,1 MP from Catalina to Big Sur via Mr Macintosh (issue)

Mouse unresponsive after booting system from newly created USB - as per Mr Macintosh instructions. Anyone experience this and/or have insight into what may be causing this issue and how to get past it to continue upgrade? Thanks in advance!
