Updating an iPhone 3GS with base bands 06.15.00 to iOS 5.0.1

I have an iPhone 3GS and had to upgrade the baseband to 06.15.00 to unlock the phone on 4.3.3. My question is how can I update my phone to iOS 5.0.1?? I know this can not be done by iTunes because of the iPad base band. And I have here'd I would need to to creat a custom ipsw on my Mac. How do I do all of this ???
