Hey guys,
I screwed up my phone this evening when trying to update backgrounder through cydia.
EDIT: I wasn't holding the home button long enough to go into recovery mode at first, a rather big FAIL on my part. I'm restoring from a backup as I'm typing this. I still have no idea what caused all this madness in the first place.
What happened: I opened up cydia, saw an update for backgrounder and installed it without any problems. After respringing, I saw a badge on cydia indicating one new update, so I opened it and saw that the available update was again for backgrounder, so I installed it, assuming it hadn't gone worked the first time or something. When prompted to download, a bunch of other stuff downloaded, far more than any previous backgrounder update I'd installed. The size of all this was around 20 MB and included what I think are libraries (I remember seeing the name open ssl among other things)
When prompted, I hit respring, and the phone just hung for 4-5 minutes until rebooting (Apple logo on screen) The phone kept seeming to boot for at least 10 min, until the screen cut out momentarily and then started this seemingly endless boot again.
[I've tried resetting the phone, which didn't work. I connected it to my mac and it didn't notice the phone at all. I tried putting it into recovery mode and DFU mode, neither of which were successful.]
The phone is a jailbroken and unlocked 2G, it's been running 3.0 for about a week, and I was able to successfully use backgrounder under 3.0 before all this happened.
Any insight or suggestions would greatly appreciated, thanks!
