Updating baseband later

Just wanted to verify that my thinking is right...if I update to 4.1 w/o baseband update, but later (for some unthinkable reason) I want to update the baseband, is it as simple as just restoring 4.1 w/o using TU's help?

Also, I seem to recall that either Pwnage Tool or Redsn0w (or both) had a checkbox you could select to upgrade the baseband if desired.
So that might be a later option also.
