Hey guys,

Everytime I go to shut down my MacBook Pro I get a message saying that the Boot Caches are being updated. That would be okay but the problem is they don't update. After I hit "OK" it just seems to not do anything at all. My computer will just sit with my background image displayed for hours....and hours.

I've been forced to do a hard reset and multiple attempts at a regular shutdown have failed. How do I fix this?

I'm like afraid to shutdown my computer because I'd have to do a hard shut down everytime, which I don't want to do. Where do I go from here?

Anyone?:)
EDIT: Here is a pic.

Any Help Would Be Appreciated Just Someone Help. Im Afraid Im Doing Harm To My Computer.

Can always run go to terminal and run "sudo update_dyld_shared_cache"

If you cannot get past that, you might have to boot into safe mode and try it in terminal, or as a last resort run it in single user mode.

Edit: please boot from the DVD and run Repair Drive under Disk Utility > First Aid

Anyone? Again, I don't know how much longer my computer can take without shutting down properly. I'm screwed if 10.5.5 ever comes out.

Anyone help would be awsome!!!

I had this pop up the last time I powered down, but it only lasted a couple minutes at most.

Just out of curiosity, why are you shutting your computer off so much?

A clean reinstall would probably fix it. do you have backups?

Yea I use time machine. Will time machine restore everything exactly as I have it now? Including Playlist, song ratings, play counts etc?

-----

I shut down my computer about once every day? Is that abnormal?
