Updating from 10.5.8 to 10.6

Hey everybody, just wanted to know if you have to re-enter passwords/serial numbers for programs when just updating from 10.5.8 to 10.6? I remember I had to do this with Final Cut Pro when I updated from 10.5.7 to 10.5.8...just a hassle that I'd like to avoid, especially if I'm going to have to do it for other programs as well.

Yes, I thought it was odd as well...I'm thinking about just upgrading to 10.6 rather than doing a clean install...I've read that it actually works pretty good to just upgrade it (while obviously backing up the desktop HD just for safety)...any of you guys have good success with upgrading rather than clean install??
