updating from 4.2.1 to 5.0.1 jailbreak?

been a while i jailbroke my iphonw lost it a bit now that i hear the 5.0.1 jailbreak untether been waiting for..

i restored on itunes get an error..

iphone 4 on att 4.2.1

i have 4.3.1 on tiny umbrella saved

do i download a copy of 4.3.1 iOS and restore and start the TSS then update to 5.0.1 then run the redsnow jailbreak?

If you don't need to preserve your phone baseband, you just need to hook it up to Itunes and hit update. It will update your phone to 5.0.1 and you will not get any error.

yeah i dont need it im on att..yeah im updating it..i must of restored it..i assume apple dont accept 4.+ iOS anymore...updating/backing up..

i know most cydia tweaks work for lower iOS FW most not ready for 5.0+

btw my backup is like frozen or taking years to move normal?
i tried redoing it and i get stuck or barely moves..how long does this back up take? need my phone later

That is depending on how often you back up your phone. Is this your first time?

are you backing up to your icloud? how many photos you have on your device?

today/yesterday didnt take long

no iCloud set up yet just trying to update to 5.0.1 then ill mess with that stuff later just want a jailbroken 5.0.1 working right now
yeah i think i have 1000+ photos on my cam roll..i think ill just sync it on iphoto then delete all of it..then update..i think its the photos thats slowing it down

everything is updated on my macbook

well i got an error 21... im jailbroken on 4.2.1 do i restore first to stock 4.3.1 with tiny umbrella TSS..i tried updating from jailbroken 4.2.1 to 5.0.1 stock iOS

As there is a untethered jailbreak for 5.0.1 can I just update via iTunes and then re-jailbreak my phone using redsn0w? Will I have to download all my apps from installous and Cydia again? A network unlock is not a problem as my phone is factory unlocked.
Any help would be appreciated.

Stop the arseholes that allow people to use installous and then there wouldn't be a problem. I fully understand developers need to make a living but while installous is available I will use it. To be fair though mate, you didn't help me with my question
