Hi Guys,
Wanted to ask you guys yesterday I was updating my iPad Pro to iPad OS 15.3 and It took me 5 hours to update to 15.3 from 15.2.1. I updated it via iTunes on my PC I know you can update it over the air directly from the device also, but I just thought I wanted a very clean and a flawless update and hence went ahead with it.
My question is, It has never ever in my life of owning an Pad and updating the OS via iTunes that the iPad has taken so long to update, one thing that I would like to highlight here is, the bulk of the time, almost 95% of time it took just to back up my device data on to my PC, had the Data Back Up process not been there while updating I think It would have got over in like Max Half an Hour.
I think I have like 96GB Data on my iPad. Please check this screenshot.
Now before anyone tries to convince me do not to do it through iTunes and just do it through OTA from he device. My question is what if I want to keep doing through iTunes only, isn’t there any way that I can reduce, minimise or like eliminate this process or shorten the process of this Data Back Up that the device does while updating to the latest version of iPad OS ?
My other question is, this extended period of time that my iPad was connected to a power Source though USB on my PC, it has a Downstream USB Port which pulls some more power than your normal USB Cable from a Computer, would this extended period of time that I had to keep my device connected and it had been some time that it was already charged to100% so it was remaining connected to the USB cable and pulling power for more than 2-3 hours after it was 100% charged in total 5 hours. Would this not have had any negative effects on the health of the battery of my device ?
I have heard stories of the way iOS is built is once the battery reaches 100% iOS automatically disconnects the battery internally from a power Source. But this is something one cannot see and so god knows what is happening in the background and how much of this is true ?
P.S : My question is not about should I be updating to latest Firmware using iTunes or OTA ? But my question is how can I Minimise this time taken in data back up that the device takes to back up my data to the PC before it actually starts installing the latest firmware on my device. So next time I know what to do ?
Also I had a question about the health of my battery as I had it kept it connected to a power source for an extended period of time.
