Updating iphone 3GS OS with a 06.15.00 firmware

I need help. I have an iphone 3GS with 4.2.1 OS and 06.15.00 BB. How do you upgrade the OS to the current 5.1.1? My Iphone has some bugs and I think upgrading the OS might help.

You can downgrade the baseband using redsnow.
Then upgrade to stock 5.1.1 at any time you want.
If you try to update to stock firmware now with the ipad baseband installed it will not work. You can also make a custom 5.1.1 with redsnow and restore to that so you have 2 options.
Downgrade the baseband that you're on now and then update to official 5.1.1 or leave the ipad baseband installed and update to custom 5.1.1 ipsw created with redsnow.

Thank you for the response but I do not know what to do. Sorry I am not that Techie. Do I just need to run redsnow while my iphone is plugged-in? Also Where Do I get the 5.1.1 pwnage?

It's more complicated than that.
Try to research about it and learn how it works and what it does or if you don't feel comfortable find someone to do it.
