Updating IPhone with Different ITunes

Ok so I have a 3GS syncing with a windows pc. Updated iTunes. Updated iPhone to ios5 :D

My other half has a 3GS but is syncing with an old MacBook = iTunes 9.2 something so no ios5!

Now until he get's his new iPhone 4s and new MacBook, can I plug his 3GS into my windows pc and update to ios5 without affecting 1. My iTunes and 2.his 3GS (pics,music,vids etc etc) ? :confused:
