I have all of my media on an external drive with the my music set as the default itunes folder. I've been adding files there recently and was wondering if is a way to get itunes to see the newer stuff without actually dragging them into it. I think it would be "Library" and "Organize Library", but I'm not sure it that would cause it to make a copy of the music elsewhere .... or would it just keep the music in the external drive where they are now and just add the new music?

Uncheck these:
iTunes > Preferences > Advanced > organize & copy checkboxes.PNG
Then click File > Add To Library and select whatever you want to add. No copies will be made, but they will be added to your iTunes library.

Thanks, for the info. One question though .... I'm not sure which of these artists I've added to. If I just select them all, will it overlook anything that's in it already and just add new CDs and folders without duplicating anything?

Yes, exactly.
