Hi

I have an iPod 3G jailbroken with iOS 4.1

I want to update to ios 5.1 and tried the iTunes update and restore options but after the download of the update I always receive a message stating that the software version is not compatible with the device (device is not eligible).

Also tried to restore with latest redsn0w version also without success. I have the original restore files from before the jailbroken process but even after restoring from them, the update from iTunes does not work. I also have the SHSH file for 4.1, 4.2.1, and 4.3b2 saved in tiny umbrella.

As any one had this problem before? How can I circumvent this? Note that I really don't mind loosing all data in the device or having it to become "unjailedbroken"

Thanks in advance.

If I remember correctly, having a iPod Touch 3G 8GB which is essentially a 2G with an newer bootrom, cannot be updated to 5.1.

An iPod Touch 3G with a 32GB or 64GB should be updatable.
