i have a mac pro that i use in work that's running 10.5.8 and i want it to upgrade to 10.9. im not sure what's the exact model of this mac pro but here is the specs:

Dual-Core Intel Xeon 2.66 GHZ Two Processors
4GB 667MHZ DDR2 RAM
7300 GT

can anyone tell me the step by step process on how do i upgrade it to 10.9?

Thanks in advance guys! :apple::D

Having the computer model would help.

Go to >About This Mac>More Info...

Your model should be displayed there.

Going by the processor and vid card that the OP listed -
OPs MacPro is the first model: Macpro1,1

A good challenge to get Mavericks installed and running, but i hear that it is possible.
Others can go more into detail about the video card that is needed, and the various other mods to the hardware.

Ok one more thing...

Got to >About This Mac>More Info...>System Report...>Hardware

What is your processor name?

It will say "Processor Name: Intel blah blah blah"

Since your Architecture is 64-bit you could install 10.9. A download for 10.6/10.7/10.8/10.9 or whatever version you can update to should be on the Mac App Store (you might need to give $20 though)

i see! thanks for that! so i'll just buy the 10.6 from the store then from 10.6 i can upgrade to 10.9 directly? :) :confused:

Do note that 10.7.5 is the latest operating system officially supported by Apple on that computer. With some work, you can apparently get 10.9.x running on it. There are threads in the forums that discuss how to do it.
