Updating MS Word for MacBook

I am trying to update my MS Word and it keeps telling me to close safari and MS Word before the update can finish... and they are closed. What can I do?

did u restart the computer and just launch word and do the update?

I have every application closed, yet when I try to install this update, it tells me to close Safari and MS Word.. but they ARE closed... How do I get passed this?

Did you quit them? Go into activity monitor and make sure they arent in the list.
